Southeast Chapter
The Southeast chapter of CAV Angels was founded in 2017, after initial efforts to raise awareness about the club and provide introductory education on angel investing proved successful. With a vibrant community of accredited investors and a strong UVA alumni base, Atlanta serves as a hub for CAV Angels members of the southeast. The Southeast chapter puts on a variety of educational and networking events which are prominently supported by U.S. Trust, one of CAV Angels’ most active sponsors. LEADERSHIP
Bryan Simms
Chapter Co-President
Bryan is a Senior Vice President and Private Banker with U.S. Trust with over 25 years of experience helping entrepreneurs navigate the complexities of company exits and managing the resulting capital. He started his career with J.P. Morgan in the early 1990’s and has been a founding member of the team that created a wealth management business at Lazard Freres.
Bryan is a member of the Darden Class of 1994 and has served Darden as the President of the NY Area Alumni Chapter, Chairman of the Global Alumni Association Board, and as a Trustee of the Darden School Foundation. Bryan is also active with his undergraduate Duke University Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Alumni Steering Committee and has been recognized for his professional achievements in the National Black MBA Alumni Association 2006 “Top 50 Under 50”. Bryan has Black Belt status in two martial arts styles and is working on his third. Currently a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and teacher of children’s martial arts classes, he, his wife Laura, and their three children live in Atlanta, GA.

Carlos Soares has 17 years of experience helping his clients overcome challenging supply chain issues. He is the founding member and Managing Director of The Prokür Group, a boutique consulting firm providing supply chain strategy and procurement excellence solutions.
Prior to this he was a Senior Manager at Accenture as an active leader in the life sciences practice of their Lean Transformation group. Before joining Accenture he was a Manager at Adjoined Consulting (a CapGemini company) and an Associate at A.T. Kearney where he began his consulting career. Carlos received his B.S in International Studies at Drexel University and his MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Carlos looks forward to helping grow the club in Atlanta and the broader Southeast region, continuing its mission to foster lifelong learning among UVA’s alumni base, and to bring together both investors and entrepreneurs in the spirit of collaboration and growth.
